Sewing Level
An advanced beginner to intermediate level, Chavire can be suitable for beginner sewers who have already sewn a garment, as it does not present major difficulties, especially the sleeveless and ruffle-free versions. However, the many variations can allow you to discover and challenge yourself with new technical points.
By sewing Chavire, you will be able to:
- Sew darts,
- Attach a facing,
- Sew gathers (versions with cap sleeves and/or ruffles),
- Sew and attach a loop (closed back version),
- Sew a rolled hem (versions with ruffles),
- Sew and assemble sleeves with gathers (short and long sleeve versions),
- Sew a box pleat (short and long sleeve versions)
Supplies
Fabric choice: You can use viscose, poplin, cotton, tencel, twill, fine velvet, fine jacquard…
The result may vary depending on the fluidity of the fabric: a fabric with more body (cotton, fine jacquard, fine velvet…) will provide more support for the backless design and emphasize the box pleats of the sleeves more, giving a more structured look, and the ruffles will have more hold; whereas a softer fabric (like a viscose) will have a more fluid overall look, particularly with "lighter" ruffles.

-Iron-on interfacing for the front and back facings in the short or long sleeve version (depending on the chosen fabric). Also, plan for a strip of iron-on interfacing or fusible stay tape for the backless version (along the backless edge)

Cut your fabric following the pattern outlines. You do not need to add any seam allowance as it is already included. For your information: seam allowances are 1 cm and hems are 2 cm. For technical reasons, these measurements may vary, but in that case, I will let you know 😊
